This second year project was a new way of using USB-C charging. The product was designed with a display and DC module.
My task was to design an out of the box idea, with an innovative and technical connection. Working on this connection was the most difficult technical problem of the project. After sketching I asked feedback to my group members. The feedback helped me to optimize my sketches. Eventually my group member told me that my sketch was an innovative concept and gave a great additional value.
When doing the materialization of the DC module, I worked out how the product could be assembled and what materials could be used for the DC-Module. Skills I learned during this project, were designing a product with a proper buildup and doing research to materials that could be used for the product. It was also a new expercience to work on the functions behind the user interface. |

The product is being divided in three different modules. A two ported USB-C with a touch screen for room adjustment.
A Direct Current (DC) Plug and a normal AC plug. The whole configuration is up to the costumer.
-
Sketches made to come to a solution how the DC module could connect with the DC power plug.
How could it be pulled out and what is the best way to use it and keep it safe.
-
The sketch idea of the buildup from a sideview this was the start for the DC design. After this sketch a Solid works model was built to see if the buildup could work.
-
When a idea is chosen it needs to be worked out more, so it can be a real concept.
Some ideas sketched and worked it up to let the other teammebers see that you mean. After this there can be started in solidworks and keep optimising the product.
-
The Dc module will power the plug, with a power of 350 Volt. The power can be used for normal devices, the current will be transformed to the asked voltage.
-
The plug is being build out of different rings that will be hold together by the screws cap and front part. The rings will conduct the power trough cables could be plugged in to the back of the rings.
-
The user interface was made to make controlling more easily. The computer screen was to manage the security of the office building.
The telephone for quick lookups as a schedule.
An iPad would hang in every room to change the light and temperature.
-
For the USB-C module, there were a few options to choose from. Changing the light color in the room, and indication of the charging products connected to the USB-C.

Date, time temperature and weather could be seen on the display. This all to have more room control on a small device.
